Flower Sheep Free Amigurumi Crochet Pattern

Hook this Sheep free amigurumi crochet pattern on Ravelry here.

Possibly the easiest sheep amigurumi pattern you can find. You can make just the basic sheep or add some tiny flowers. Free pattern for some tiny crochet flowers can be found HERE. You can add flowers by simply sewing them onto the body using sewing needle and thread. What materials you need for the basic amigurumi sheep?

– crochet hook size 3mm/US D
– worsted weight yarn
– tapestry needle
– stuffing
-optional: 6mm safety eyes, sewing needle, black thread, blush

This pattern uses US crochet terms and these abbreviations:

  • ML – magic loop/ring/circleedit91
  • ch – chain
  • sc – single crochet
  • hdc – half double crochet
  • dc – double crochet
  • sc2inc – single crochet increas
  • sc2tog – single crochet decrease
  • slst – slip stitch

Let’s get started!
THE BODY – work in rounds

  1. sc6 in ML                        (6)
  2. sc2inc  x  6                     (12)
  3. (sc, sc2inc)  x  6             (18)
  4. (sc2, sc2inc)  x  6          (24)
  5. (sc3, sc2inc)  x  6          (30)
  6. (sc4, sc2inc)  x  6          (36)
  7. – 13. sc36 around          (36)
    14.  (sc4, sc2tog)  x  6   (30)
    15.  sc30 around            (30)
    16.  (sc3, sc2tog)  x  6   (24)
    17.  sc23, slst.                 (24)

Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing. Stuff the body.

THE HEAD – start with an oval

  1. ch5
  2. in 2nd chain from hook sc2inc, sc2, sc3inc, sc2, sc one more in the same chain where you did sc2inc.   (10)
    Now you should have an oval that has 3 stitches on each end and 2 stitches on each side.
  3. sc3inc (in first sc you made in row 2), sc4, sc3inc, sc4    (14)
  4. sc2inc, sc, sc2inc, sc4, sc2inc, sc, sc2inc, sc4                     (18)
  5. – 11.  sc18 around                                                                      (18)

Change color to white.

12. (sc, sc2tog)  x  6     (12)basic1
13. sc2tog  x  6               (6)

Stuff the head and close it.

THE LEGS – work in rounds, make four.

  1. sc6 in ML  (6)
  2. (sc, sc2inc)  x  3  (9)
  3. in back loops only, sc9 around   (9)
    change color to white
  4. – 9.  sc9 around            (9)

Slst, fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing.

THE EARS – work in oval, make two.

  1. ch4
  2. in 2nd ch from hook sc, hdc, dc3inc(in top chain), hdc, slst  –  fasten off, wave in the ends.

  3. I am up to round 17 of your adorable sheep and I don’t understand how, if I single crochet 23, then slip stitch, I will end up with 18 stitches?
